The use of alternative fuel is common nowadays because it is cheaper than gasoline or diesel. Also, alternative fuels contain substances which are environment friendly, as such, it can help save and conserve natural resources that are used in order to produce gasoline and provide efficient and clean fuel combustion.

One basic thing to know about alternative fuel is it may be readily used today. The most common machine that is powered by alternative fuel is a car or vehicle. There are many forms of fuel alternative available that may be used in one’s vehicle; it includes liquefied petroleum gas, ethanol, methanol, compressed natural gas, and electricity. The good thing about alternative fuel is that it cost less but without sacrificing the mileage. In addition, its components are made of substances that reduce the risk air pollution. A classic example is electricity. If your car is powered by electricity, there is no chance that air pollution may be emitted.

As stated a while ago, alternative fuel helps save the environment. It removes the risk of creating carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, unburned hydrocarbons and other particulate materials. The poisonous emissions stated usually come from gasoline and diesel powered vehicles and machinery. Alternative fuel minimizes these kinds of emissions, if not absolutely obliterate it.

Another thing to know about alternative fuel is that its materials can be found anywhere, including your own backyard. Some materials include old frying oil, used vegetable oil, recycled paper, plant wastes, animal manure, and other recyclable materials. However, don’t even think about putting vegetable oil in your vehicle. There is a process in converting these materials into alternative fuel.

Some fuel alternative uses a specific vehicle or engine in order to completely operate. This is commonly called as alternative fuel vehicle. Alternative fuel vehicles use a specific alternative fuel in order to work. Am example is an electricity powered car. When using this kind of vehicle, one must charge its battery in order to use it. It is like charging the battery of a digital camera or a cellular phone. The problem with alternative fuel vehicle is that they have a lower energy output. This means that gasoline or diesel vehicles provide farther mileage as compared to alternative fuel vehicles on a full tank basis. Another thing to take note is that alternative fuel vehicles cost more than the conventional gasoline or diesel automobile.

Fuel alternatives are not only used in vehicles, it may also be used in one’s industry or for the industrial operations. Some industrial machines use gasoline or diesel in order to function. Since diesel or gasoline is used, alternative fuel may be used as a replacement. Other industries are compelled by a law or a local ordinance to switch from gasoline to alternative fuels not only to minimize air population, but also to help the government to reduce the production of gasoline and diesel.

Globally, countries opt to operate every machine using alternative fuels. Air pollution is a big problem that a country needs to remedy. Through the use of alternative fuel, it will not only save our environment, but also, be an effective way to conserve our very limited resources.

Here are some of advantages of using renewable energy resources, which will help you in knowing their significance:

* Renewable energy is natural source of energy and can replenish itself easily over short period of time. It comes from common sources like solar power, running water, and wind.

* They are limitless and hence one can be dependent on them unlike fossil fuels.

* Renewable sources do not pollute the environment.

* It is quite affordable and can be availed to many people as an alternative for non renewable sources at economical cost.

* Pollution free environment

* Promotes healthy living

* Fights against global warming

* Helps in reducing effects of the entropy on Earth

These are few of the advantages. If you carefully analyze them you will see that scientist are working forward to provide you with uninterrupted supply of energy. For example, for storing the solar energy they have developed solar cells. You can easily charge them by keeping them in the sun and have low cost.

Similarly, for generating more electricity instead of power plants, windmills can be used. They assist in production of electricity at low cost. There is less wastage of water and hence we can get low electricity. The water can be replenished in form of rain.
The carbon tax is almost here. Since politicians do not like to admit they raise taxes, it is being called a Cap and Trade Initiative.

A key part of this movement is the carbon footprint of the company’s ENTIRE supply chain, not excluding the non foreign part of the process where they do not obey or really worry too much about American level regulatory costs. In case some of you from service companies are thinking, glad I do not have to worry. Start worrying. Service companies will be required to measure this and impacted by it. There already are websites like cdproject.net described in more detail below and software programs being used for these estimates, and the investment banking analysts are already estimating what they are calling an off balance sheet financial liability.

If you weren’t concerned about your company’s carbon footprint in the past, it’s time you started to focus attention on the impact the carbon tax will have on your company’s operations and bottom line. No company or industry will be exempt from the carbon footprint issue: the Green Movement’s political influence and public popularity is creating a perfect storm by which all companies will be levied a tax measured by their carbon footprint.

To see how far this process is advanced, look at the website for Cdproject.net . It states that: The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an independent not-for-profit organization which holds the largest database of corporate climate change information in the world. The data is obtained from responses to CDP’s annual Information Requests, issued on behalf of institutional investors, purchasing organizations and government bodies. Since its formation in 2000, CDP has become the gold standard for carbon disclosure methodology and process, providing primary climate change data to the global market place.

In addition, institutional investors’ increasing focus on a company’s carbon footprint liability provides more evidence that the carbon tax will soon be a reality. In fact, the website GlobalReporting.org shows the format institutional investors want for estimated carbon usage.

Using that type information, analysts and the Chicago Carbon Exchange chicagoclimatex.com can estimate your impact from the carbon tax and cost increases.

Our planet is suffering a process of global warming due to the atmospheric pollution produced by the industry emission of gases. A great threat for the planet is global warming producing what is known as the greenhouse effect. By global warming we understand “The increase in earth temperature produced by the burning of fossil fuels and other industrial processes that lead to the accumulation of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere (water steam, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, ozone and CFC)”. Of all gases that produce the greenhouse effect, (carbon dioxide) CO2, is the main responsible and is produced by the combustion of fossil fuels (carbon, petroleum and natural gas) to obtain energy. Each year, more than 7000 millions of tons of carbon dioxide are sent to the atmosphere, 2/3 of which are from the combustion of fossil fuels, while the rest is produced by deforestation and combustion of wood. Since 1896 it is known that carbon dioxide helps to avoid that infrared radiation escape to space, and this makes that a relatively warm temperature is maintained in our planet (greenhouse effect).

Sometimes it is used the name of climate change, that designates any weather change or anthropogenic climate change, where the direct influence of human activity is implicated. Global warming and greenhouse effect are not synonymous. The greenhouse effect enhanced by pollution, can be, according to most theories, the cause of global warming observed since the middle of the twentieth century, when there was and end to the stage know as the little ice age.

And what can we do to avoid global warming?

Of all possible things the easiest are:

Walk or use a bike instead of a car.

Consume only what is necessary, you can reduce in an important way the impact to the productive chain to the environment.

Recycle garbage

Reuse all we can, such as clothes, books, toys, etc.

Reduce consume of electric energy.

Regulate to comfortable temperature in winter and summer, for heating and air conditioners.

There is a lot of noise about global warming, but very little true understanding is reaching the public. While we are focused on immediate concerns, we might be ignoring a looming future catastrophe. It is important to transcend our obsession with short-term gains (that’s what forced the world economy into a tail-spin, after all) and carefully consider long-term consequences.

What are the actions of today that will affect the world of tomorrow? Because of our current behavior, what will our descendants be dealing with? Let’s separate fact from fiction and face the very real effects of global warming and the extremes of climate change.

Recently there have been extensive revisions in the assessment of climate change issues by many scientific organizations. Greenhouse gasses are increasing dramatically due to huge industrial growth in China and India. Plus, with the thawing of the poles, rising sea levels are eminent (possibly 55 inches by the end of the century) and this puts the highly populated coastal areas in danger.

Changes are happening, but how do we know what they are?

Of course, our planet has been experiencing weather’s ups and downs and highs and lows for billions of years. What makes us think the climate is changing more drastically now, and what could be causing it?

Considering known cycles of the past, some say we are overdue for another ice age. Research suggests that the earth’s magnetic field has been diminishing lately, and this could be a sign that a magnetic shift is eminent. The North and South poles might actually flip, causing catastrophic upheavals that could rearrange continents and severely shake up all forms of life. We know that such things have happened in the past, and they are sure to happen again — but when?

We depend on the planet’s magnetic field to protect the surface from deadly solar radiation. If it is currently becoming weaker, that won’t help us much if the sun starts blasting us with extreme killer flares. Records indicate that our old reliable sun has recently been behaving in radical, unexpected ways, and it could fry the entire planet at any moment!

There are also more exotic views of upcoming earth changes…

Many researchers insist that ALL of the planets in our solar system are heating up, and climate change is not just a local condition, it is a far reaching cosmic development. There are those who speculate about a buildup of hyper-dimensional electromagnetic forces that will influence not just our own planet’s weather, but the future evolution of our entire solar neighborhood.

There is also a growing movement of doomsayers who insist that the world will endure some sort of significant transformational event on December 21, 2012, as suggested by the famed end of the Mayan Calendar and the puzzling prophecies of Nostradamus, as well as other metaphysical sources.

Yikes, it looks like fun times are ahead for Planet Earth! But before we get too stressed out, let’s settle down and confine ourselves to reliable, factual information. With the current emphasis on non-ideological scientific inquiry, we are getting a flood of new studies that must be seriously considered. Clearly, we need to deal with this matter now… along with all the other problems that can no longer be ignored.
